North Eastern Championships (January 14, 2008)
A number of championship best performances were broken at the North Eastern Indoor Championships on the 12th and 13th of January 2008.
 
The 12th saw the field events taking place where there were a number of good performances.
 
The U17 girls long jump saw three athletes over 5m. Ashleigh Wood of Middlesbrough AC won the competition with a leap of 5m40cm. This was a P.B for Ashleigh who followed up with a leap of 5m30cm. 
 
Chloe Gill (Middlesbrough AC) was 2nd with 5m22cm and Ashleigh Stone leapt 5m10cm making it a clean sweep for the Teesside based club.
 
The three girls went on to contest the U17 Triple Jump where Chloe Gill  broke the Championship Best Performance of 10m92cm to record a jump of 11m27cm and Ashleigh Stone registered a 2nd place jump of 11m10cm which also broke the previous record. Ashleigh Wood was 3rd in 10m66cm.
 
In the Senior Mens Triple Jump last years winner Ade Babatunde (Middlesbrough AC) broke his championship best peformance from the previous year by leaping 14m23cm.
 
The U20 mens triple jump was won by Craig Fiddes (Blaydon Harriers) in a P.B leap of 13m56cm with Charlie Dryden (Middlesbrough AC) registering an impressive P.B of 13m24cm.
 
Not to be out shone the last event of the day, the Senior mens Long Jump, saw Chris Kirk (Newham and Essex Beagles) register a jump of 7m55cm smashing the record by 48cm.
